Celebrate Vail’s culture & creativity with Art in Public Places. Along with all of the wonderful public art throughout Vail, there is a variety of art courses taught in spectacular outdoor settings, such as the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens. Plus, enjoy free guided tours of Vail Village's art collection every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Vail Village Visitor Information Center (top level of the parking structure). Vail's Nature Center and Betty Ford Alpine Gardens
Experience and Learn about local nature at Vail’s Nature Center.A log cabin perched between an alpine meadow and the forested bank of Gore Creek houses the Vail Nature Center. This seven-acre facility, in the heart of Vail, is a tranquil gem whose knowledgeable staff hosts informative bird, wildflower and beaver pond hikes. Take in the stunning scenery at the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens.At 8,250 feet above sea level, the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is the highest botanical garden in the United States. With numerous educational programs for children and adults, including mountain hikes, tours, classes and exhibits, the beautiful botanical gardens in Vail offer countless ways to enjoy the rare and exotic alpine wildflowers and plants.
Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum
Overflowing with inspiration and nostalgia, The Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum and Hall of Fame was created to honor "Coloradoans" who have performed inspirational acts and contributed significantly to the sport and industry of skiing and snowboarding in Colorado. The Colorado Ski Museum honorees include filmmakers, authors, performers, area operators, athletes and others who have national or international significance. Enjoy weekly guided tours and free admission daily.
Hiking and Biking
Vail Mountain and the surrounding valley offer expansive trail systems for the outdoor enthusiast that wind through lush forests, brilliant wildflowers and native wildlife to provide breathtaking views of the surrounding environment. Vail offers a wide variety of hiking trails for you to choose from. All ages and abilities can take advantage of miles and miles of trails that offer the chance to escape into nature. Vail’s Mountain Bike trails suit the amateur and the seasoned professional. Family cruisers can ride the gondola, explore the forests on two wheels and enjoy a mountaintop barbeque. Downhill junkies can ride uphill then seek out the most technical terrain for their descent. Equipment is available for rental.
Vail Golf Club
The Vail Golf Club is celebrating 45 years of golf in Vail. Nestled at the base of the Gore Mountain Range in the Rocky Mountains, the Vail Golf Course presents golfers with a unique 18-hole, par 71 experience at 8,200 feet elevation. The Vail golf club is open to the public and offers a full service golf shop, professional instruction, launch monitor, driving range, practice area, club storage, golf swing analysis, club rentals, demo days and an on-site restaurant.
Vail Mountain and Adventure Ridge Activity Center
Explore Vail Mountainfrom the top down. Adventure Ridge Activity Center at the top of the Eagle Bahn gondola is your headquarters for on-mountain activities. Families can enjoy our Top-of-the-Mountain tours that take you from Adventure Ridge to our legendary Back Bowls in a comfortable open-air vehicle, or a scenic horseback tour through Game Creek Bowl. Younger children can enjoy pony rides around our mountaintop corral. Kids will reach new heights with our climbing wall and rebound trampolines. And, don’t miss out on the 18-hole disc golf course, Bocce Ball, Horseshoes, Dino Dig, and a new Slack Line Park. Adventure Ridge is also the starting point for many of our hiking and biking trails.
