Getting Here

There will be plenty of parking around town, but it is advised to reserve transportation to your hotel from the airport and walk to all the events in town. Or you can rent a townie bike from hotels like The Rochester.

Moving On

To get from the start to the finish, it is suggested that you follow these directions:

  • Take US 550/Main Ave. north out of Durango for approx. 75 miles
  • Turn Left onto Hwy 62 in Ridgeway, follow for 23 miles
  • Turn Left on Hwy 145, follow for approx. 13 miles
  • Turn Right to continue on Hwy 145 towards Mountain Village
  • Turn Left onto Mountain Village Blvd. Drive Time: 2.5hrs

Tutu to Brew

​Date: August 16, 2012 

​Location: Buckley Park & Ska Brewing 

Time: 5:30pm-8:00pm

​Short description: Kick off the weekend festivities with a fun bike parade and beer festival.  Join the parade as we ride from downtown Durango on our scenic bike trail along the river led by some local famous faces.  After a few stops along the way to pick up a few more folks we will end our ride at Ska Brewing World Headquarters and experience a mini Durango Beer Fest in the outdoor Beer Garden.  Sample some local beers, great food and enjoy live music by Farmington Hill.  Don’t forget your Tutu!  Parade departs Buckley Park around 5:30pm.

True West Railfest

​Date: August 16-20, 2012 

​Location: Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad

​Short description: Exhibit Tent across from the train station and Railroad Museum open all weekend – free. Western entertainment, movies, World Fast Draw Association shootout and competition, special train excursions, Cowboys for Christ church service, “B-Western” Look-a-Like costume contest and exhibits and more!  www.durangotrain.com

Community Grand Open House

Short description: The Community Grand Open House will be the communities collective welcome to Durango featuring all 200 downtown restaurants, galleries, shops and entertainment venues opening their doors and inviting guests to enjoy everything Durango has to offer. 

USA Pro Challenge Gala

Short description: Let's Get It Started! The USA Pro Challenge and Durango, CO present the team presentation event.  As the host of the Overall Start, Durango is pleased to present this once-in-a-lifetime experience to see the best international teams in the world introduced to a local and intimate audience in Durango. These are the hottest tickets in town!

It's A Real Butte: Mountain Bike & Trail Run Event

Start Festival

Location: Fort Lewis College

Short description: A cycling focused festival with a full day of activities.   There will be live music, food & New Belgium beer, a kid’s zone featuring a Strider obstacle course, cycling goods for sale, a jumbotron with rider interviews and highlights from the inaugural 2011 Pro Challenge.  The official merchandise store will be onsite and patrons will have the opportunity to ride one of a kind bikes made out of unexpected materials.

Pro Challenge Experience

Location: Downtown Durango-Durango Mountain Resort

Short description: Here’s your once-in-a-lifetime chance to feel what it’s like to be one of the premier cyclists in all the world. When you sign up for the Pro Challenge Experience, Presented by UnitedHealthcare, you’ll get to ride portions of Stage 1 of the 2012 USA Pro Challenge that the real pro riders themselves will face the very next day.

Race Day:  It All Starts Here!

​Short description: 7:00am-5:00pm Race Day Start Festival

Main Ave. Downtown Durango/Buckley Park

After the bikes roll out of town, stick around for a ton of fun! The Race Day Start Festival will be up and running at 7 am at 12th and Main and in Buckley Park and will stay open until 5 pm. Breakfast burritos, juice, water or coffee will be available. Nearly 100 exhibitors will have booths set up in and around the park with all kinds of offerings, from food to drinks to local products. Watch the race as it winds its way to Telluride on the Jumbotron! Local entertainment also provided. In case you are thirsty, a beer garden will be open from 11 am to 4 pm. Help Durango celebrate a fantastic start to the US Pro Cycling Challenge!
